I was at my vet's office the other day when I saw a woman who had the most unusual dog. The poor thing was just shivering in fright at being at the clinic but I learned from her owner Marlene that her name is Fiona and that she is a Chinese Crested breed. What does that look like? So unusual, so unique, so gorgeous. The breed is a naked one... no fur covering their flesh. But they have the most exquisite, silky hair on their heads, their feet and their tails. I was gobsmacked. And I learned Fiona had two sister dogs at home.
I had to ask if I could take their picture. I needed to have their picture.
And so I photographed Fiona, Molly and Noel, each looking so completely different.
Marlene told me Noel was black and I immediately thought of shooting black-on-black, hoping for window light. I got gorgeous window light, though I didn't think to bring my backdrop stands for the black backgrounds, of which I had two, one velvety, the other duvetyne, a really fierce black fabric. But we made do, me, Marlene, her cousin Shelly and the girls.
Now the trio weren't particularly skilled with sit and stay but what they lacked in that kind of knowledge they made up for in beauty. And they were completely sweet, especially once they'd been plied with a few extra tasty salmon treats.
Take a look at these girls.
These are the regal ones. And if you want to see more, check them out at Diana Lundin Photography.
Molly is the eldest. She's 12. I love her completely dignified look.
The fabulous Fiona. She's 7. Can you get over her hair? I die.
Sweet Noel. She's 6. I love how the window light touches her skin.
