Some months ago, in one of my early posts, I introduced you to the hairless trio... Fiona, Molly and Noel... three gorgeous Chinese Crested girls, all unique in their own way. I photographed them last May after meeting Fiona at the vet clinic where I take my animals and where my photography is hanging in the lobby.
Last November, Noel, the black girl, died unexpectedly. She was not even 6-years-old. It's not exactly certain what caused her death but it might have had something to do with complications from being debarked by her previous owners. Her mother Marlene was devastated.
Though her heart was broken, Marlene continued her work with Naked K9 and Small Dog Rescue to help rescue other Chinese Cresteds and through this, she was introduced to a dog in Michigan. This girl was a little different than the others. For one, she is not full Chinese Crested, she is mixed with Chihuahua. And she is quite red, though I'm told her once pale skin has become tanned in California. So yes, I'm jumping ahead here... Marlene adopted Shi Ling and Shi is fitting in beautifully with her new family.
I promised Marlene that I would take photos of Shi once she was settled down. Marlene said that Shi Ling was very good and she frequently sent me pictures through Facebook of Shi posing beautifully. Marlene said she would be good for her photo shoot unlike the other three who were quite unruly when I did the shoot. Ha. Shi was just like the others! But she was so much fun, I can see the joy she brings to Marlene and how she gets along so well with Fiona and Molly. We photographed her using the same side window light and black background so she would look like the session from almost a year ago.
By the way, Marlene has documented her girls with photography forever. She has photos of them on her phone and in frames all over the house. But she was very happy we met fortuitously at the vet's office that day because she has a professional photo of Noel. It both breaks her heart and brings her peace whenever she see those images of Noel.
And now I introduce you to Shi Ling.
