I just finished shooting cat portraits at the Kat Knappers Cat Show in Arcadia (where I met my first Lykois... earlier post... they are the werewolf cats) and it is time to present the incredibly handsome Teddy, whose real name is Magnadolz Integrity. This handsome ragdoll is the apple of Sharon Shulby's eye. She has a cattery in Manhattan Beach and when she says they are magnificent, she means it. She has raised grand champions.
All ragdolls have blue eyes, the deeper the better, at least as far as showing them goes. They are a pointed breed... you know, like the Siamese, with the darker fur on their face, legs, tail and ears. Ragdolls come into their full growth when they're about three, she says. They have a soft and silky coat. They are very docile cats.
Why the name Ragdoll? They literally go limp in your arms when you pick them up. They are kind of like a boneless cat. Check out this Wikipedia article on the origins of the Ragdolls. They are descended from Persian and Birman breeds. All I know is if Teddy is a good example of a Ragdoll, they are sweet and beautiful. And in the case of Teddy, ridiculously handsome.
