I had the honor of photographing 13 dogs at Top Dog Barkery in Newport Beach over the weekend and it was a blast. Karen, the owner, has a Halloween contest every hour so the store was filled with people bringing their pooches all decked out in costumes.
We took pictures of the dogs in and out of their costumes so that we could get a variety and of course we offered our beautiful curved metal prints to those who signed up for our photo shoot.
To my dismay, the one thing I forgot to bring was my ottoman for the dogs to be photographed on and it was a bit of a detriment because we had a big hard box that some of the dogs did not like to get on. But all in all, it was a super successful day and it was so much fun to see all the creativity of the Halloween outfits.
We had a big variety of dogs, too, from a humongous mastiff in pearls named Paulette to Panda, an incredibly darling little pom-poodle mix. We had a Chinese Crested Powderpuff, a couple of Schnauzers, a pair of pugs, a rambunctious yellow lab named Riley, and a Tibetan terrier. We had some boxers and some mixed rescue dogs.
Below is a sample from our day shooting in the Big Orange.
Once again, a big shout out to Karen and her incredibly capable staff for such a fun event! And of course to the owner and their dogs, too! Whether we photographed them or not, we enjoyed seeing every one of them that we could. Oh, it was quite funny to see the huge Great Dane and the mastiff side by side. Imagine the dog food bills between those two! It was probably 300 pounds of canine right there.
